Much like your body, your bedroom walls are just another canvas to decorate as you please. Ever since my sister moved out a few months ago, I’ve had a lot of blank space to fill and make my own. For the past few months I’ve slowly been doing a lot of redecorating and do-it-yourself projects (which I honestly can’t really complain about because I love doing it as a hobby anyway). But since half of my bedroom was just empty space, I really wanted to get new furniture and decor without breaking the bank. With that in mind, I did a lot of IKEA shopping as well as painted and distressed all my old furniture for the shabby chic look I was going for (there was ALOT of chalk paint involved, guys). Here is one of the few furniture items that I re-purposed:
I really love how you can make an old piece of furniture look one-of-a-kind with just a fresh coat of paint, new appliques or trim, and/or decoupaging fabric or paper on it. I mean if you already didn’t know, I’m an absolute sucker for unique home decor items which is why so much of my stuff are DIY projects or from Etsy or from Society6. Since I work from home and spend the majority of my day in my bedroom working on my computer, it is nice that I can do it in a peaceful space that is just so entirely me.
My room tour video is down below so you can see everything else and most of where I got it all! Please don’t kill me because it isn’t in true HD, not well edited, etc etc. I’m using a point & shoot and free trial versions of video editing programs ok. I will be showing how to do a couple of easy DIYs that you will see in the room tour as well re-purposed furniture step-by-steps in future blog posts! You can also click on the video and go to the video description to see direct links to some of the stuff in my room.
